A weak password is one which is easily guessable by an outsider, allowing them access to a system they’re not supposed to access.
A weak password is:
- Your username or real name
- A birthday
- “password” or “10987654321” or something similar
- A single dictionary word in plain text. For example, ‘caterpillar’ or ‘gorgonzola’. Although these words may seem random, there are specialist hacking software tools which can easily crack the password!
To secure your accounts, you should use a strong password.
